Windows 10 End of Life

Windows 10 End of Life

Windows 10 will reach its end of support on October 14, 2025.  After this date, Microsoft will no longer provide free security updates, non-security updates, or assisted support for Windows 10.  While Windows 10 will still function, it will become increasingly vulnerable to security risks without these updates.
Here's a breakdown of what that means:
  • No more security updates:
This is the most critical aspect.
After the end-of-life date, any newly discovered security vulnerabilities in Windows 10 will not be patched by Microsoft.

What are your options?
  1. 1. Upgrade to Windows 11:
    .
Microsoft is encouraging users to upgrade to Windows 11, which is the latest version of the operating system.

  2. 2. Join the Extended Security Updates (ESU) program:
    .
For a fee, businesses and individuals can subscribe to the ESU program to receive security updates for a limited time after the end of support date.

  3. 3. Use a different operating system:
    .
You can choose to switch to a different operating system like Linux.

  4. 4. Continue using Windows 10 at your own risk:
    .
You can continue to use Windows 10 without security updates, but you should be aware of the risks involved and take precautions like using a strong antivirus program.

  • No more non-security updates:
  • This includes feature updates, performance improvements, and other bug fixes that Microsoft typically releases.

  • No more official support:
  • Microsoft will not provide technical assistance or troubleshooting for Windows 10 problems.

  • Continued functionality:
Windows 10 will continue to work, but using it without security updates will become increasingly risky.
